For Renzo Bighetti, art is an expression of life. His abstract works reflect his love for the sea and for all of the feelings it holds; his figurative arts reflect the love for people. He is inspired by different things, perhaps a root that becomes a soft and slender column or the sheer outline of shells, sponges, stones and rocks that reproduces the magic they contain. In its empty maternities the motherly body disappears to make space for the child and the arms are one because only through total fusion can there be continuity. Balance and harmony between space and volume are always present in every shape, big or small.

Alberto has a strong bond with this area of the world that began in the early seventies. He visited and studied China and India and became Scientific Embassy Counsellor for Italy in New Delhi from 1989 to 1991 then in Peking from 1992 to 1995. His job was to examine the opportunities of exchange between our industrial excellence and the artisan and cultural traditions of these countries. But together with and thanks to Luciana he always strove to understand faraway, and therefore fascinating, realities and cultures. The Knot has offered them the wonderful opportunity to bring years of experience in design and architecture to this reality, and especially to Cambodia where their daughter Martina has been working for years, and to involve acquaintances and friends in a social project that aims to redistribute not money so much as acquired knowledge to young people less fortunate than our own.

Luciana has lived many years in Asia, studying and researching the Chinese, Indian and Khmer cultures, with special attention to the world of the women and minors. This has made her a privileged witness to the transformations taking place in this half of the world population that is fighting to obtain its share of well-being and right to life. She is not only a writer, but an active and participative witness to other realities that she tries to get us to know and especially to understand.
